Dental check-ups

Dental check-ups are the foundation of your dental care. Your dentist uses these to get a good understanding of your dental health and can advise if any further treatment is required.

Regularly attending your dental check-ups is important as it allows us to monitor your dental health and treat problems early on. In doing so we can manage any concerns before they become serious or expensive.

At Treehouse Dental, we recommend that you visit us every 6 months for a dental check-up. This allows us to keep an eye on your oral health and means that we will spot any problems in the earliest stages when they are easier and more cost effective to treat.

Some patients may require more regular check-ups, perhaps every 3 months, depending on your oral health requirements. Your dentist will be able to explain the best frequency for you.

We have a family-friendly approach for all services at Treehouse Dental, including dental check-ups. Our team will ensure you feel calm and comfortable from the moment you arrive - we’ll even play your favourite music to help you relax - and we have a dedicated floor for children.

Dental fillings and restorations

Sometimes teeth need a little more love after a dental check-up.

Your dentist may notice that a filling is required, or you may need further work such as dental crowns or bridges. Your dentist will explain what’s going on, why a treatment is recommended, and what your options are.

Alternatively, you may have a concern such as a broken or chipped tooth that requires a restoration. We are pleased to offer free cosmetic consultations – book yours today.

Root canal treatment

You may have heard of root canal treatment before, but other than the pain associated with it not many people really understand what it is!

Sometimes patients will contact us experiencing tooth pain, and this is often due to an infection within the root of one of their teeth. This occurs when bacteria enters the tooth via a crack in the surface.

Root canal treatment at Treehouse Dental is carried out by our specialist endodontist. The treatment involves carefully drilling a hole that allows us to reach the infection with special tools to thoroughly clean it. The root is then filled and sealed, and a new crown will be placed to replace the broken tooth.

Root canal therapy is a very comfortable procedure that provides complete relief from the pain experienced from the infection.

Tooth extraction

At Treehouse Dental, our aim is to keep your teeth, gums and mouth as healthy as possible. We will never remove a tooth unless it is completely necessary.

If tooth extraction or wisdom tooth extraction is required, you can rest assured that you will be in the safest hands. Our oral surgeons are highly skilled and very gentle, ensuring that your treatment experience is comfortable and painless. Local anaesthetic is always used for dental extractions, and we can also offer dental sedation, which is particularly helpful for nervous patients.

Treating teeth grinding in Crouch End

Suffering with chronic headaches? You may be grinding your teeth at night, but we can help!

During every dental check-up, we will always check for signs of tooth wear as a result of teeth grinding. Many people don’t know or realise that they grind their teeth, it often happens at night or absentmindedly during times of stress, but it can cause problems such as chronic headaches.

In addition to headaches and migraines, teeth grinding can also cause damage to the teeth, all of which we would prefer to avoid. The great news is that your Treehouse Dental team have the solution in the form of a splint to wear while you sleep. These are small, clear, and comfortable and simply fit over your lower teeth.

Our splints are called Sleep Clench Inhibitors (Sci) and they are supplied by the experts at S4S Dental Laboratory. The Sci can be fitted during your dental appointment, and the Sci+ is made in the dental laboratory. Your dentist will be able to explain the differences between the two and which would be the most appropriate model for you.

Composite bonding: Frequently asked questions

  • How long does composite bonding last?

If the treatment is properly maintained and cared for, we expect composite bonding to last around 5 years before it needs replacing.

  • Will composite bonding whiten my teeth?

If you would like your teeth to be whiter, we would recommend a course of teeth whitening treatment prior to composite bonding. This will allow you to achieve your desired shade so that we can match the composite shade to your natural teeth. Composite cannot be whitened with tooth whitening gel.

  • Do my teeth need to be straight before composite bonding?

While composite bonding can be used to mask minor misalignment, we may recommend teeth straightening treatment first. This will mean less composite material is required, achieving a far more natural and longer lasting final result.

  • Does composite bonding look natural?

Yes. All of the cosmetic dental practitioners at Treehouse Dental are highly skilled perfectionists who are masters at creating beautiful smiles that look seamless.
